Hung application

When you repeatedly double click a program icon but with no results, the application may have hung.

The way to solve this in Windows XP and 2000 is to right-click the Windows task bar and click Task Manager on the menu. Next, pick the Processes tab in the application window and click the list box column head labeled Image Name to arrange the applications running. Locate the application you want to open. Right click the offending applications and choose End Process, then click OK. Do this again until all programs close. Close the Task Manager and begin the application once more.

Rebooting Problems

One main problem that you face is by re-booting the computer without any warning. All information is lost and it seems as though this happens at the worst possible time. You need to repeat some workloads as well. Booting errors when the computer first start’s up is another indicator of this component going on the blink.

Printer Troubleshooting

The printer is another device that we connect to our computers. To install the printer, verify that you can print from the computer that has the printer attached. The remaining troubleshooting involves network connectivity. If the problem is that the printer’s output is not correct, skip to Check Printer Properties and begin troubleshooting from there. With this method, you should be able to isolate the problem to the application, the computer, or the printer.

Monitor troubleshooting

Sometimes when no picture or image appears on the monitor, we feel like panicking. Well, we can’t assume our machines to be working all the time, so it’s best to check every now and then.

Find out if the monitor is plugged and its power is turned on. Look at indicator lights for clues. Confirm if the monitor cable is attached to the video port on the back of the CPU. If there is no problem with the connection, try adjusting the settings – brightness, contrast, horizontal, vertical views and so on. If all these don’t work, try connecting the monitor to another computer. For all you know, it might be your pc that is not working or is having trouble.
