biosbatteryEver had a problem with your PC you simply cannot fix whatever the online tech support and how-to sites recommend? Have you checked the boot-up sequence? If you have a computer that is more than a couple of years old then this may be sign of a faulty or worn out BIOS battery which helps your computer keep all the hard-ware settings you or the computer shop may have pre-set when you bought the computer.
Though they last long, they can fail and wear out but this is a very rare case for PC’s usually get replaced every two years or so to keep up with current trends and software requirements. The battery is a Lithium Ion disk battery that you can easily find in any computer store or DIY supply that is more than often a CR2032 3volt battery. they last a couple of years or so depending on the conditions in your area such as relative humidity or heat.
If you have ample technical background, you can replace the battery by simply opening up the case and looking for the coin-looking battery, being careful not to damage the other parts of the computer. Remove the old battery and replace it with the fresh one making sure you do not touch the contacts. The part with the label is normally the plus or positive terminal and the bottom part is the negative. Remember the position of the battery when you take it out and replace it in the same manner so you don’t burn out your board. If you think you cannot do this by yourself, take the whole CPU to the computer shop and have them do the replacing for you. You may also want to get a couple of additional fans for a premature failure of the battery may be sign of too much heat where the battery literaly cooks in it’s own juice.
